Les deux passions des fondateurs de Sudden Death Brewing Co. sont déjà clairement visibles dans le logo de la brasserie : un masque de hockey sur glace avec des bâtons croisés rencontre des palettes de purée et des cônes de houblon. Olli Schmökel et Ricky Nagel sont avant tout des fans de hockey sur glace. Lors d'un voyage sportif aux États-Unis, les garçons ont découvert une bière très différente de la bière amère classique qu'on leur servait en Allemagne. Ils ont découvert avec beaucoup d'enthousiasme les diverses bières artisanales des États et sont devenus accros : ils voulaient aussi boire ces bières intéressantes, corsées et variées à la maison. Par nécessité - il était difficile de trouver de la bonne bière artisanale - leur petite brasserie artisanale a été créée et a rapidement fait sensation sur Timmendorfer Strand. Avec des noms amusants comme Let Me Be Your Hero, Baby ! ou We Don't Give A Fudge, Sudden Death Brewing Co. a pris d'assaut la scène de la bière artisanale.
Puissant
Le nom dit tout : Sudden Death Brewing Co. emprunte un terme au hockey sur glace pour son nom. Ici, la mort subite fait référence à un geste qui peut mettre fin au match en prolongation avec un seul but. L'équipe qui marque un but dans les cinq premières minutes de la prolongation remporte la partie. Cette méthode montre quelle équipe a les gars les plus coriaces sur la glace. Chaque joueur est sous haute tension et donne tout pour remporter la victoire. C'est l'un des moments du jeu, sinon le plus dramatique et excitant, et c'est la devise qu'Olli et Ricky ont adoptée pour leurs bières. Ils veulent contrer la stricte loi allemande sur la pureté et la culture Pilsner avec des bières inhabituelles et surprenantes, si buvables qu'on en boit volontiers une autre. Leur Tough Guy Ale ou leur Pils Brosnan sont très populaires bien au-delà de Timmendorfer Strand.
Que diable?
La Sudden Death Brewing Co. n'est pas seulement une brasserie extraordinaire en raison de ses bières spéciales : contrairement aux brasseries conventionnelles, Olli et Ricky n'ont pas étendu leur propre système de brassage à mesure que la demande a augmenté, mais se sont plutôt installées dans leur propre nid, afin de parler. En tant que brasserie dite de coucou, votre brasserie a déménagé avec tout son équipement dans une brasserie établie et a commencé à brasser sa bière à partir de là. Selon Schmökel, cela n'a pas été aussi simple, mais une fois que le brasseur local a été convaincu de ses compétences grâce à son travail acharné et à son expertise, les choses ont fonctionné.
